3/16/12 Canvas Report #2

Today several volunteers joined me for the canvas project in HD41-B. We were on the streets for over 3.5 hours working an area that included 327 homes. Here are a couple samples of our contact with residents in the areas covered. I was overwhelmed with the consistent support by the citizens and surprised at the broad recognition of our campaign, especially of our green campaign bus, which we need back on the road.

Story
One family we encountered used to live in the previous HD50-A and had moved to New Brighton. The family was pleasantly pleased to discover our campaign canvassing his community and said we have their full support and votes on Election Day.

Story
We came around a bend in the road and noticed a couple watching us from their yard working the neighborhood. The closer we got the wife went inside, leaving the husband working on the yard. I approached him and we began a short, productive conversation on constitutional government, his expectation for placing real constitutional candidates into office. He gave his support and vote on Election Day but said his wife might have a diverse position than him. I accepted his support and said I would be glad to answer any questions in the future his wife had.

Story
As I approached one home the homeowner was headed out his garage to perform yard work. Shaking hands he stated knowing of our campaign supported and intended voting for me on Election Day. The conversation was short but I was pleased having another educated voters support.

Story
The last contact I made today was a life long politically involved liberal democrat. One might expect I would pass on an opportunity to engage such an individual being we are polar political opposites. His depth of local political activity caught me off guard in he was fully aware I had switched from the Republican to Constitution Party last summer, and well informed of my campaigning over the last 4 years even knowing where I live.

Our conversation lasted 20 minutes, included plenty of laughs and covering multiple subjects of economics, party struggles within the GOP, Democrats liberal run left over the decades away from core principles of the past, were just a sample of our conversation. You want to build bridges without compromising positions or principles, let others talk, have their say and they can hear your rebuttals.

In the end we shook hands, agreed to disagree on multiple issues, but the crowning moment for me were his statements, he recognizes our country has many issues and appreciated personally meeting a reasonable, sensible, informed candidate for public office and would consider voting for me in November.

A closing reminder, no political campaign message reaches the general population on prayer alone or wishful thinking. Campaigns take multiple support avenues for success including financial support. At this stage in our campaign we need folks who support freedom, our republic form of government stepping forward and providing generous financial support. Take a moment now and visit our website at http://www.timutzforhouse.com/donate.htm and make a contribution of $10.00, $20.00, $50.00 or any amount up to $250.00; whatever the amount take the time now and make that donation.
