1/9/12 Ash Tree Assassination

While traveling today through St. Anthony on Stinson Boulevard making my way home from down town Minneapolis I noticed some freshly removed old growth Parkway trees still having green paint visible around the remaining stump.

Immediately my thoughts returned to an article I read several weeks ago where someone in the Minneapolis Parks Department was explaining the green paint encircling the clearly healthy trees. The unelected bureaucrat said the Minneapolis Parks Department in cooperation with other governmental agencies has embarked on an experimental forestry saving project to destroy perfectly healthy Ash trees in the community then replacing them with other tree types.

One might ask why destroy perfectly healthy Ash trees? The bureaucrat explained the healthy Ash trees might, someday in the future, develop Ash Boar disease; the new progressive forestry saving project proactively removes the trees before a possible future disease.

Have we totally lost our minds as a society? When does the endless theft of private wealth stop? Long ago government exceeded Constitutional spending restrictions moving into a phase of self propelling expansion “for expansion sake” while continuingly increasing the theft of citizen wealth; into a new stage of bloated consumption disguised as justified unproven or tested preemptive destruction and replacement.

Suppose during an annual medical exam your attending doctor informed you he was scheduling you a liver transplant for next week based on the possibility you might get liver disease in 17 years. Suppose, in spite of all your efforts the transplant occurred, protecting a possible future disease. How would you respond?

1/6/13 Material Wealth

You know that saying “how much is enough, just a little more”. Today I came across a story in Bloomberg News about the 100 richest people in the world. There were some interesting statements in this story that brought my thoughts to a Biblical story.
In the Bible Luke chapter 12 verses 13-30 Jesus gave a warning about the sins of envy, covetousness, hording and vanity.
Jesus tells a story of a rich man destroying his full barns to build larger barns for holding his amassed material increase and for self fulfillment; including the envy of those without such wealth.
A great Biblical read and another reason our founders demanded Biblical teaching in all schools public and private, teaching character and personal moral; creating leaders to serve in public office, those willing to do right for the preservation of our Republic form of government.

1/2/12 “Fiscal Cliff” Deal, Criminal At Best

The corruption is in the details, there is NO excuse for passing this bill with the level of special privilege, and abuse of power. The information and details coming out about the details leaves me stunned and speechless.

1/2/13 Really Christie?

Amazing how this proclaimed East Coast “Tea Party” savior for the Republican brand, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, has shown his true political colors today while blasting Boehner and the U.S. House for not raising the federal debt limit and illegally tucking hurricane Sandy federal “AID” for New Jersey in the amount of $37,000,000,000.00 into the “Fiscal Cliff” bill last night.

Christie presents an image of self reliance, limited Constitutional government, unless “Christie” wants the future income from children of citizens in Georgia, North Dakota or Utah through Federal bonding and increased debt.

1/1/13 New Years Day Thoughts

I was discussing with Nadine tonight the Church in America and about the new federal medical care taxes, the TSA spying on football fans at the Vikings game, the capitulation of Republicans (AGAIN) in Congress on increasing taxation and NO reduction of government growth, the federal tax hikes on 80% of Americans starting today.

Prior to the 1770’s American Revolution, America experienced a spiritual revival from 1730’ to the 1770’s that gave a basis for the Revolution. Tonight I see the Church of 2013 as a lion with just a gum line and lock jaw. The bold voice of the Church is horrifying silent on the issues of today, liberty, or spiritual revival; in times past a force repelling state tyranny, now not even a voice in the market square of ideas and solutions.

1/1/13 Reflection

As I took a show this morning thinking on the events that produced our Constitutional Representative Republic (not democracy) during the 1740’s to 1780’s in relation to the tactics used in 2012 by 21st century liberty minded folks a contracting difference appears.

Back then people pledged their sacred honor, fortunes and lives. Today freedom minded patriots attend rallies while stopping at Perkins on the way home, means test freedom candidates ability to possibly win election before any investment of time or money, gripe on social networks, and write gnarly letters to political party organizations and their elected candidates, submit to every government intrusion of personal property, free movement, revenue of labor, and educational instruction without hardly a whimper.

Our founders bled in the streets of the city, the steps of the Church, and the battle fields of war, yet today’s freedom fighters relinquish at the first sign of pain or discomfort.

12/29/12 “Lincoln” A Movie Review

Nadine, Eliza and I went to see the movie “Lincoln” in Coon Rapids today; a great movie in general showing the activities of the period ending the civil war. Two critical errors of the movie were 1. The repeated reference to America as a democracy, our Republic was created specifically to avert any democracy leanings, the founders hated democracy governments. 2. The portrayal of Lincoln acting as a “King” not president in usurping powers not afforded a president under our Constitution.

As a candidate for public office and my wife as a political widow we appreciated and related with many private and public interactions and relational aspects presented in the movie about Lincoln and his wife.

Critical aspects of our governments textual process presented in the movie would misguide the politically unknowledgeable movie patron. The movie has value but against the backdrop of a patron holding a solid conviction for Constitutional Republic government.
