Supporting Local Charities

Columbia Heights Police and Fire

Mark your calendars: Columbia Heights police officers and firefighters are teaming up to help local families in need.

The two departments will host "Arrest and Extinguish Hunger" March 29 at the Columbia Heights Public Safety Center. The event is scheduled to run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and include demonstrations, tours and food.  Demonstrations will include several K-9s from various agencies, fire simulation, Mounted Patrol, SWAT team, Crime Lab, vehicle extraction, Bomb Squad, plus representatives from M.A.D.D, D.A.R.E, the Jacob Wetterling foundation, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
Community Policing Coordinator Terry Nightingale says organizers are hoping to raise $10,000. A similar event last year raised $6,200, far surpassing the goal of $1,000.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Southern Anoka Community Assistance (SACA). Suggested donations are $10 per person or $20 per family.
